Today I hurried into the office to print out some spreadsheets I had prepared in color for the Zone Leader’s Training Council and fielded several phone calls and e-mails prior to our 9am meeting. We had 9 zone leaders, the assistants, Elder Barfuss, Jan and I in attendance. We had a very good meeting where we had instruction, counseling together, and some good policies set for the zones. During the meeting, the assistants got a call from the Elders who had taken a boat to Tuvalu. They had arrived that morning (after a 2 and ½ day boat ride) and they wouldn’t let them off the boat. They told them that they had to show evidence of when they were going to be leaving before they could come into this small country. The assistants had to hurry and buy some plane tickets for them to come back at a future date. This is an interesting requirement that we had seen before when we were entering other countries on our mission tour. They required that we could show out ticket for leaving before they would let us through customs. As we finished and had lunch, I had to go back over to the office in order to release Sister Jessa from her mission. Following that interview, I met with Elder Grant who is going to Rotuma to be the branch president of the little branch in that far away island. I wanted to give him some training on serving as a branch president. He and his companion will be flying to Rotuma next Friday and will be living in a very isolated situation for about 3 months. I met with the assistants after a quick dinner to review with them the training I needed them to complete with Elder Myer and Elder Inukihaagana in Nadi tomorrow afternoon while we are flying to New Caledonia. We completed that review around 7pm and we went back to the mission home to prepare for our 7 day trip to start tomorrow.
