July 29, 2011

Today I interviewed Elder Seiko and an elder coming home from the Marshall Islands and released them. I then spent most of the morning trying to get caught up on paper work and following up on various requests. We firmed up the list of people coming to the mission and leaving the mission over the next few months. I slipped over to the house to get lunch and concentrate on trying to identify all the receipts I had for expenses associated with the mission office that we charged. I was able to get all the receipts lined up so I could submit my expense report for the month of July. I also called on our outstanding shipment from the states. They told me today that the shipment had cleared customs and they now need to make arrangements to pick it up and deliver it to us. They told me it would be sometime next week (that is yet to be seen). By the end of the afternoon, we had identified a plan for traveling to New Caledonia and Vanuatu twice each over the next 2 months. Then it was time for my transfer meeting with the assistants. We needed to identify certain transfers now that won’t occur until mid-September in order to allow them to buy the tickets. Certain plan flights sell out so quickly that we have to buy them 6 weeks in advance. We worked through the plan for a transfer that will occur in mid-September that will include 7 new missionaries. We identified all the trainers but will wait until I interview the missionaries before determining which missionary should go to which trainer. After that transfer meeting, I got on-line and bought the tickets for our trip to New Caledonia from the 13th to the 20th of August. Tomorrow I will need to get hotel arrangements for that stay and also but the tickets for our trip to Vanuatu from August 30th through September 6th. As I printed out the electronic tickets I saw that it was 9pm and I hadn’t had any dinner! I closed up shop and went home for a late dinner and some time with Jan. I feel like the day was quite productive.
