August 14, 2011

Today we got up to get ready for Church. The hotel where we are staying doesn’t have an iron and ironing board that we could have in our room. However, they did give us a card that allowed us to access their laundry area for 1 hour beginning at 7am. We went up and sure enough there was a very nice iron and ironing board to use. A different arrangement but it seemed to work. We attended Church and the Branch President invited us to his home for dinner after Church. We came to a modest home in an apartment complex and we had a very nice dinner with the Branch President and his family, another family in the ward and 4 missionaries. We had to leave fairly quickly after dinner so that I could go to another ward building for 4 temple recommend interviews before a scheduled disciplinary council at 4pm. I met with the district presidency afterward and we conducted quite a bit of business getting caught up and making me aware of a number of issues. Finally, the missionaries were able to pick me up and take me back to the hotel where Jan had been since I went to do the temple recommend interviews. They gave me a sack with dinner for us. The Elder’s had prepared a spaghetti dinner for us. We enjoyed the meal as we finished the evening. My brain was fried having spent all day in French speaking mode for the first time in about 6 weeks.
